Dickinson

Dickinson is considered the gateway to Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the many recreational opportunities to be had there. But Dickinson itself is a city of fun-filled attractions, popular annual festivals and a downtown that comes alive with on-street summer concerts.

The Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway from Mandan ends in Dickinson, and the Killdeer Mountain Four Bears Scenic Byway begins just north of Dickinson on Highway 22.

No stop in Dickinson would be complete without learning the history of the area – and we’re talking history, or better yet, pre-history. It all comes together at the Dickinson Museum Center, where life-sized dinosaurs and an array of fossils are on display. Recreational opportunities await at Heart River Golf Course , Patterson Lake Recreation Area and the West River Community Center, with its water recreation, gymnasiums, racquetball, fitness center, climbing wall, locker rooms, lounge area, tennis courts, playground and track.

Cultural activities include Roughrider Days and the Ukrainian Festival and the Ukrainian Cultural Institute.

Take a ride down Villard Street and you’ll come across BrickHouse Grill, which features 24 signature martinis, exotic seafood and aged beef, and Blue 42 Sports Grille and Bar. Other fine dining can be found at The Crossing

Maybe it’s not fine dining, but a quick bite or coffee to boost you into the day. Stop at The Brew Coffee House in a former chapel downtown in the oldest chapel in the city. The Brew offers a variety of drinks along with fresh baked pastries and paninis. Eight O Four Inspired Sipping serves beverages and pastries, with a strong attention to detail and keeping things simple and homemade.

Fluffy Fields Vineyard and Winery offers a relaxed atmosphere and wines produced with locally grown produce.
